Loss Prevention

Catch time theft early, with a person on every call

Most time theft shows up in your own data first: a punch while the alarm is still armed, a clock-in with nobody scheduled, a shift still open after the store is locked. Every Poros Ops plan watches for those. The Loss Prevention add-on adds the camera clip, so a manager can see who was actually at the clock.

Two layers

In every plan

Time clock integrity

Checks your time clock against your schedule and alarm panel, and flags:

  • clock-ins while the alarm is still armed
  • clock-ins with no scheduled shift
  • early clock-ins and late clock-outs against the schedule
  • staff still on the clock after the store is armed at close
  • long or missed breaks, and missed clock-outs
Add-on · early access

Loss Prevention

$59 / store / month, any plan
  • The clip from your time-clock camera attached to every flagged punch, so a manager can see who punched
  • Clips for cash-count and till variances
  • After-hours activity while the store is armed or closed
  • Clock-outs compared with when the person actually left

A flag is a lead for a manager to check, never a conclusion. Most flags turn out to have an ordinary explanation: a swapped shift, a late delivery, a forgotten punch. The point is to see them the same day, while people still remember what happened.

What it never does

  • No facial recognition, no biometrics. The software finds a clip by time and camera. It never identifies anyone; your manager does.
  • No automatic discipline. It never writes someone up, changes a schedule or ends a job.
  • No automatic timecard edits. Changing a punch is a separate step a manager approves.
  • No crew texts. Flags go to managers and owners, never to the hourly employee.

What you need

  • Compatible cameras and a recorder. UniFi cameras with a UniFi recorder today. We resell the hardware and arrange installation; the kit depends on what you already have and is quoted before deployment, invoiced with the deployment fee. Typical setups are below.
  • A camera that can see the time clock or register at each store where you switch it on.
  • Your own employee notice and signage for cameras, as your state requires. Ask your attorney; we can share what other operators post.

Typical setups

Most stores already have some camera system. What we add depends on it, and every setup needs some installation (mounting, a cable run, adopting the cameras, naming the zones, setting retention). Prices are hardware plus our installation, before tax and shipping; most stores land between $1,200 and $3,900 per store, and adding cameras to a UniFi system you already have can be less.

How it starts

Cameras are connected during your normal deployment, with no extra deployment fee (the hardware itself is quoted and invoiced separately). Like every automation, it runs in shadow mode for at least 14 days first: it finds clips and logs what it would have flagged, and nobody is alerted. You review the shadow-mode report, then approve go-live. You can also add it later; it then runs 14 days in shadow mode before going live. The intro and founding discounts apply to the add-on too. See pricing and how deployment works.

Questions

Does it use facial recognition?

No. There is no facial recognition and no biometric data of any kind. The software finds the clip for a flagged punch by time and camera, and a manager watches it.

Do we need new cameras?

You need UniFi cameras with a UniFi recorder, and a camera that can see the time clock or register. If you already run UniFi, we usually add one or two cameras. If you use something else, two standalone G6 Edge cameras or a full swap are the typical answers; see the setups above and tell us what you have on the walkthrough.

Can it discipline or fire someone?

No. It flags and finds clips. Every decision about a person is made by a person.

Is it included in Full Fleet?

No. It's an add-on on any plan, $59 per store per month, for the stores where you switch it on. Time clock integrity checks are included in every plan.

Does it catch buddy punching without cameras?

Often, yes. Punches while the alarm is armed or with no scheduled shift are strong signals on their own. See how to catch buddy punching without cameras. The camera clip is what lets a manager confirm who it was.
