About Poros Ops

Run your stores like you’re on Poros.

Managing a business should feel like an afternoon on a Greek island: the sun is out, the ferry is on time, and your phone stays face-down on the table. Not because nothing is happening, but because everything that happens is already handled.

The name

Three meanings of Poros, and we kept all three.

πόρος

A way through

In ancient Greek, poros is a passage, a crossing, a way through something that looked impassable. Multi-unit operations are full of those: payroll week, a short truck, an opener who didn't show. Poros Ops is the way through.

Πόρος

Resourcefulness

In Plato's Symposium, Poros is the spirit of resource and ingenuity, the one who always finds the means. That is the job description for software that runs alongside your managers.

Poros

An island

Poros is also a small Greek island in the Saronic Gulf, a short ferry ride from Athens: white houses, a clock tower above the harbor, boats in the strait. It is where we would rather be on a Tuesday afternoon. That's the point.

+ ops. Operations. The unglamorous, never-finished work of running stores well, every hour they are open.

The island test

If you can't run it from a beach chair, it isn't automated yet.

Every automation we build has to pass one question: could the owner be on Poros while this happens?

  • 06:58Opener check runs. A late store gets a nudge; you get nothing unless it matters.
  • 10:30Labor is over target at one store. The manager gets a trim suggestion and approves it with a Y.
  • 13:15The truck came in short. The credit request is already drafted.
  • TuesdayPayroll is cross-checked against the time clock and waiting for you. You still approve it. From the beach.

The island is a standard, not a promise that you'll never work. The hard calls, like money and people, stay with a human, on purpose.

Where it came from

Built by a franchisee, for franchisees.

Poros Ops didn't start as a software company. It started inside a working group of franchised quick-service stores, where every morning began with the same scramble: logging in to six systems, calling stores to see who opened, reconciling payroll by hand, and finding out about problems after they had already cost money.

So we started automating the scramble, one chore at a time, and only kept what held up in real stores with real managers. Today that system watches labor, payroll, ordering, hiring, cash and compliance around the clock, and it texts people only when a person is actually needed.

Poros Ops is that system, made available to other operators. Same guardrails, same screens, same island test.
